I am writing this letter to set the record straight as to why I feel so strongly about Bob Muth for mayor of Onalaska. The newspaper terribly misrepresented my views in a recent article.

I support Bob Muth for mayor because Bob has, for his whole adult life, given of himself to his country, community and family more than anyone I know. In a world where most people think about “what’s in it for me,” Bob’s style is unique. He is a giver, not a taker.

After serving his country and fellow Marines in the Vietnam War and receiving three Purple Hearts, he was honorably discharged. He then went into law enforcement, where he served the Onalaska community as a police officer and retired as a sergeant.

Muth has had a positive influence on hundreds of kids at St. Pat’s church through coaching and officiating sports, in which he takes great pride to be still involved with today. As alderman, he has helped resolve problems that have burdened the city for years, along with holding the line on spending.

His work with the district attorney’s office as an investigator is invaluable. As mayor of Onalaska he wants to be involved in the waterfront development, preservation of land, quality use of developing properties, getting a handle on traffic issues and work with small businesses.

What’s the driving force behind Bob Muth? I’ll tell you what it is: faith, family, commitment.
