The following log is based on reports from the Holmen and Onalaska police and fire departments.

Onalaska police

Monday, March 3

3:30 p.m. — A 23-year-old woman reported her checkbook had been stolen from her home on the 700 block of Vilas Street.

3:58 p.m. — A 26-year-old Onalaska woman reported someone had fraudulently used her credit card at a Wal-Mart in Owings Mills, Md. She found the transactions as she reviewed her monthly bank statement.

Tuesday, March 4

4:45 a.m. — A 56-year-old man reported someone had knocked out the driver’s side turn-signal lens of his car while it was parked on the 800 block of Vilas Street.

3:17 p.m. — An employee at Once Upon a Child retail store in Crossing Meadows shopping center in Onalaska reported an incident of retail theft. The employee told officers a white man in his 20s wearing glasses, brown hat, black puffy coat and wind pants concealed six two-piece outfits valued at about $50 in his coat. They gave police the license number of the vehicle he left in.

6:18 p.m. — A 24-year-old Holmen man was arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. The second man, a 25-year-old from Holmen, was also arrested for disorderly conduct and bailjumping. Both had been involved in a fight at Wal-Mart.

Wednesday, March 5

7:40 p.m. — Two men from Hudson, Wis., were assaulted while they waited at a bus stop on Highway PH. They stated they were at a bus stop when a car with four males pulled up, a young man, described as in his 20s, got out and asked them if they wanted to fight. They said no, and one of the men from the car punched one of the men standing at the stop. Another older man, described as in his late 30s in a tan coat, got out of the car with his hand in his pocket and asked if he wanted to get shot. Then the driver in the car yelled “cops” and they got back in the car and left. The two at the bus stop wrote down the license number of the vehicle. It is registered to someone in Sparta.

Thursday, March 6

10:42 a.m. — A 61-year-old woman reported she and her husband had been receiving disturbing phone calls at their home on the 900 block of Orchid Place.

12:44 p.m. — An employee of Kwik Trip on the 1800 block of East Main Street reported receiving a counterfeit $20 bill.

1:15 p.m. — A 26-year-old man was arrested for domestic battery, criminal damage to property and domestic disorderly conduct. While on the 300 block of Royal Street, he had hit his girlfriend in the head with his fist, slammed her arm in the bathroom door, threw CDs in the driveway and kicked in the back door. He was found later in La Crosse.

9:30 p.m. — A 19-year-old woman reported her purse had either been lost or stolen from Burracho’s restaurant. It held her wallet, checkbook, debit card, Social Security card, a Minnesota driver’s license and some membership cards.

9:04 p.m. — A 50-year-old man reported someone had thrown eggs at his home on the 500 block of 11th Avenue South. He also noticed someone had hit the windshield of his neighbor’s truck with eggs.

11:17 p.m. — Police received two more calls regarding eggs being thrown at vehicles along the 800 block of 11th Avenue South. When they went to investigate, they observed a third vehicle with eggs on the windshield.

Saturday, March 8

1:04 a.m. — A 40-year-old Holmen man was arrested for drunken driving and possession of 5 grams of marijuana when he was pulled over on the 100 block of Second Avenue South.

5:40 a.m. — A 19-year-old La Crosse man was arrested on Riders Club Road for drunken driving, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and bailjumping. He was pulled over for erratic driving.

3:13 p.m. — An 18-year-old man reported his cell phone was stolen from Luther High School while he was playing volleyball.

Sunday, March 9

2:47 p.m. — A 40-year-old Holmen woman was arrested for attempting to obtain a prescription by fraud. She had called Gundersen Clinic and used a false name, claiming she was a patient of the clinic and wanted to have her medication renewed. When the staff couldn’t locate her records, she hung up. The staff traced the call and reported the information to police. Police arrested her in her home for bailjumping, obstruction and attempted prescription drug fraud. She said maybe it was for the best because she hadn’t been able to get help for her drug problem.

3:43 p.m. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested in his home on the 900 block of Park Avenue for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. His mother had called police when he became violent and began using profane language. When police searched his room, on request of his mother, they found a box containing a pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana.

Sunday, March 2

12:57 p.m. — Police responded to a call on the 2000 block of Crooked Avenue from a 60-year-old wheelchair-bound woman complaining her adopted grandchild’s mother had assaulted her. The woman had slammed a door on her hand six or seven times.

Monday, March 3

7:58 a.m. — A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were referred to juvenile services for battery and hate crimes after fighting at the Holmen High School. The 14-year-old had a broken nose and was charged with battery as he said he was planning to fight the other and had brought two friends to “cover his back.” The 15-year-old was charged with hate crimes as he was describing the other with a racial slur while online.

9:35 p.m. — A 60-year-old man was given a verbal warning after a complaint his dog was barking too much at the home on the 900 block of Second Avenue East.

Tuesday, March 4

10:04 a.m. — Police responded to the Family and Children’s Center where staff members were having problems with a 9-year-old boy. The boy had scratched a staff member and pulled the hair of another staff person after being told he could not draw a gun while in class.

Thursday, March 6

10:58 a.m. — Police responded to a call from Holmen High School regarding theft from a vehicle that was at the shop. Missing were two subwoofers, an amplifier, two speakers and a CD player.

Sunday, March 9

12:42 p.m. — A live power line came down on a truck at Village Hall.

5:32 p.m. — A 17-year-old girl was reported missing by her mother on the 1500 block of Viking Avenue. She had been missing since Saturday at 2 p.m. Police are treating it as a runaway incident.

Tuesday, March 4

12:14 a.m — First responder call on Irvin Street for a person who fell.

12:29 a.m. — First responder call on Franklin Street for a person who fell.

9:26 a.m. — Fire and first responder call on Highway 16 and Theater Road for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

12:14 p.m. — First responder call on Second Avenue South for a person who was passed out.

7:11 p.m. — First responder call on Critter Court for an unknown problem.

8:02 p.m. — First responder call on Augusta Lane for a person with an unknown medical problem.

Wednesday, March 5

5:08 p.m. — Fire call on Main Street for smoke or odor removal.

Thursday, March 6

3:48 a.m. — First responder call on Vilas Street for a person having a seizure.

6:21 a.m. — First responder call on 17th Avenue South for a man who was passed out.

12:04 p.m. — First responder call on Crossing Meadow Drive for a person experiencing chest pains.

4:29 p.m. — Fire call on Mason Street for a fire alarm that was activated.

Friday, March 7

6:23 p.m. — Fire call on Quincy Street for a bomb scare — no bomb was found.

Saturday, March 8

8:14 a.m. — Fire call on Heritage Lane for smoke from unknown source.

10:43 a.m. — First responder call on Second Avenue North and Main Street for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

10:43 a.m. — Fire call on Second Avenue North and Main Street for a combustible/flammable gas leak.

6:08 p.m. — Fire call on Green Street for a chimney or flue fire.

Monday, March 10

11:39 a.m. — First responder call on Hickory Lane for an unconscious party.

11:30 a.m. — Fire call on North Sunrise Lane for a motor vehicle accident.

10:43 p.m. — First responder call on North Circle Drive for a person with a breathing problem.

Monday, March 3

10:21 a.m. — First responder call on the 900 block of Dana Lane for a person with an unknown medical problem.

1:40 p.m. — First responder call on Highway HD for a person with an unknown medical problem.

11:45 p.m. — First responder call on the 600 block of Malin Court for a person with a breathing problem.

Wednesday, March 5

10:56 a.m. — First responder call on Highway Z for a person experiencing chest pains.

Thursday, March 6

1:48 p.m. — First responder call on the 1000 block of Linden Drive for a person who was having an allergic reaction.

Friday, March 7

12:40 p.m. — First responder call on the 700 block of McHugh Road for a person who was ill.

8:47 p.m. — Fire call on the 1500 block of Cliffview Drive for a carbon monoxide detector activation.
