LETTER: How about a salute for my local heroes?

The TV station in Wausau has a segment called “Our Hometown Heroes” that honors people in the service. I would like to honor my local heroes.

I lived in Galesville from the early 1940s to 1959. Mom and Dad (Conrad and Lucille Amundson) were very proud of their six sons who served our country: Vilas Amundson (Army, WWII, Galesville), Donald Amundson (Army WWII, Galesville, deceased), Kermit Amundson (Army, Korean War, Galesville, deceased), Kenneth Amundson (Army, Korean War, Galesville, deceased), Faye A. Amundson (chief warrant officer, Coast Guard, Bellevue, Wash., retired) and Butch Amundson (Army, Vietnam, Trempealeau, retired).

Other family members who served include Ralph Grubbs (Army, WWII, deceased), Edward Przytarski (Army, WWII, deceased), Daniel Bradford (Army, WWII, deceased), Monte Lecher (Army, Stoddard), Dennis and Dickie Grubbs (Army, La Crosse and Onalaska, retired), Mark Lecher (Army, Tennessee), David E. Senft Sr. (Air Force, Desert Storm, Bancroft, Wis.) and AriAnne Grubbs (Air Force, La Crosse).

These are my local heroes who have served or are currently serving our country.
