Published - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 Police and fire calls The following log is based on reports from the Holmen and Onalaska police and fire departments. Onalaska Police Department Saturday, March 29 9:56 p.m. — Police responded to a domestic incident on the 900 block of West Avenue. A 39-year-man was intoxicated and refused to leave his girlfriend’s apartment. The man was driven by police to his home in La Crosse. Sunday, March 30 1:40 a.m. — A 22-year-old Galesville man was sought by police for domestic disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass and battery. He had hit his 17-year-old girlfriend in the shoulder and chest after breaking into the house of a friend of his girlfriend on the 400 block of Main Street by breaking through sliding glass doors. Monday, March 31 9:53 a.m. — A manager at the Wells Fargo Bank on Theater Road reported a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed to the bank from the Taco Bell in Onalaska. 11:15 a.m. — A manager at the Wells Fargo Bank on Theater Road reported a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed to the bank from the Burger King at Crossing Meadows Drive. 3:42 p.m. — A manager at the Wells Fargo Bank on Theater Road reported a counterfeit $100 bill had been deposited from the Wendy’s restaurant. Tuesday, April 1 9:21 a.m.—- A 46-year-old La Crosse man was arrested for placing nuisance phone calls to his ex-wife who lives on the 800 block of Robert Place. He had been warned several times to stop calling her. 10:54 a.m. — A contractor from Kish and Sons Electric of La Crosse reported tools were stolen from a job site at the well house on the 500 block of Vilas Street. The total value of the stolen tools is about $6,750. 10:54 a.m. — Security at the Menards store on Sand Lake Road reported suspicious activities of two men they thought had been involved in a theft at the store in February. The store staff told police they tried to steal some spools of wire by changing the bar codes. The suspects left the store when a number of staff members came towards the registers they were at. 10:56 a.m. — A 21-year-old man reported his young brother and two sisters for whom he had legal guardianship, were missing. He said the last time he saw the children was when he left them with their mother over Easter holiday. She had lost custody of the children. He believes the mother moved to Milwaukee. Wednesday, April 2 7:50 a.m. — A 65-year-old woman reported someone had struck the mailboxes along the 1100 block of East Avenue north. Thursday, April 3 10:38 a.m. — A 55-year-old man reported someone had gained entry to his apartment on the 200 block of Third Avenue North by breaking a window in the front door. The apartment was ransacked, but it appeared nothing was stolen. 12:48 p.m. — A 61-year-old man on the 400 block of Hope Court reported a stereo had been stolen from his van. Saturday, April 5 12:37 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman reported a cement lawn ornament worth $100 had been stolen from her yard on the 600 block of Green Court. Monday, April 7 2:38 a.m. — Police received several phone calls about shots being fired on the 500 block of Quincy Street. Five shots were reported by callers and while searching the area, police received more calls. A suspect was described to police after allegedly entering an apartment on the street. Police questioned a man at the apartment but were unable to gain entrance. Shortly after questioning, the man took his dog out for a walk and police followed in a squad car, but nothing unusual took place. Holmen Police Department Tuesday, April 1 9:20 p.m. — A 38-year-old Holmen woman reported receiving threatening phone calls at her home on the 100 block of Sheffield Drive from her ex-boyfriend. He had made a succession of phone calls, which got progressively more intimidating. Because he was a heavy drinker, she was afraid for herself and her daughters. Wednesday, April 2 10:52 a.m. — A resident on the 100 block of Westminster Avenue called police about a suspicious group of teenagers hanging out and drinking. Beer and hard liquor bottles were found near a shed that could not be seen from the street. 6:32 p.m. — A peeping tom was reported on the 900 block of Linden Drive. Thursday, April 3 10:21 a.m. — A 14-year-old boy received a warning from police about his interactions with a female student on the 500 block of Main Street North. He had said he needed help in math and when she asked what kind of help, he told her to take his pants off. 10:58 a.m. — Police received a report of a truck frequently taking loads of tires into a wooded area near Pioneer Drive and Judith Court. 1:26 p.m. — A 26-year-old man reported someone had tried to break into his car while it was parked on the 3200 block of Pleasant Drive South. Someone had smashed the front window and it appeared the driver’s side window had been pried and broken. Nothing appeared to be stolen. 2:06 p.m. — A 16-year-old boy was cited for habitual truancy (sixth offense) from Holmen High School. 3:49 p.m. — Someone turned in a bike found on Saddlewood Street. 5:24 p.m. — Six juveniles were given verbal warnings after a resident on the 500 block of Amy Drive called to complain they were riding bikes and doing jumps and hitting her building. They were warned they could be cited for trespassing. 5:43 p.m. — A 14-year-old boy reported his cell phone and a golf club had been stolen from his locker at Holmen High School while he was at baseball practice. Friday, April 4 2:09 p.m. — A woman was given a verbal warning because of her dog’s barking on the 600 block of Amanda Court. 8:06 p.m. — Three juvenile boys were given verbal warnings after they tried to sneak into a dance at the middle school. 10:27 p.m. — A 24-year-old man was arrested after police were called to a domestic dispute on the 600 block of Amy Drive. On the night of the arrest, the man said his girlfriend hit him in the face with her fist several times. She claimed he had grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the face. There had been problems between the man and his girlfriend and neighbors had witnessed an altercation between the two the previous evening but did not want to get involved. Sunday, April 6 12:15 a.m. — Police received a report of a 12- to 14-year-old who was coming and knocking on the bedroom window of the residence on the 700 block of Angel Drive. No one was found. 3:50 p.m. — A man was given a verbal warning for allowing his teenage boy to skateboard on the tennis courts at the 400 block of Wall Street East. 11:01 p.m. — A 54-year-old man was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. His daughter had called police because he was drunk and would not leave her home where she was trying to put her child to sleep. He was yelling, swearing, throwing pans around the kitchen. Onalaska Fire Department Tuesday, April 1 3:55 a.m. — First responder call on Mason Street for someone with stomach pain. 7:54 p.m. — First responder call on Second Avenue South for a person who had collapsed. 10 p.m. — First responder call on Green Street for an unresponsive female. Wednesday, April 2 4:04 a.m. — First responder call on Mason Street for a person injured in a fall. 4:36 p.m. — Fire call on Crossing Meadows Drive for smoke or odor removal. 7:18 p.m. — First responder call on Schafer Drive for a person with chest pain. 7:49 p.m. — First responder call on 13th Avenue South for a person with a headache. No time given — Fire call on German Court for a carbon monoxide report. Thursday, April 3 3:18 a.m. — First responder call on Highway SS for a person who was vomiting. 9:12 p.m. — First responder call on West Avenue for a person having trouble with home oxygen equipment. No time given — Fire call on Highway 16 for a car fire. No time given — Fire call on I-90 and Highway 16 for a report of natural gas smell. No time given — Fire call on Royal Street for an electrical problem. Friday, April 4 8:14 a.m. — First responder call on Highway 16 for a person with a diabetic problem. 11:06 p.m. — First responder call on Crossing Meadow Drive for a person who had fainted. 11:55 p.m. — First responder call on Whispering Winds Drive for a person with chest pain. Saturday, April 5 1:25 p.m. — Fire call on Sugar Lane for an outside rubbish fire. 1:45 p.m. — Fire and first responder call on Highway SS for a vehicle accident with injuries. 6:57 p.m. — First responder call on Market Place for a person who was vomiting. Sunday, April 6 1:06 p.m. — Fire and first responder call on Highway 16 for a vehicle accident with injuries. 4:32 p.m. — First responder call on Highway 16 for a person who had passed out. Monday, April 7 8:57 a.m. — First responder call on Oak Timber Drive for a person experiencing leg pain. Holmen Area Fire Department Sunday, March 30 2:18 a.m. — First responder call on the 100 block of Mill Street for a person with a head injury. 8:33 a.m. — First responder call on the 100 block of Buckingham Lane for a person with a medical problem. 10:09 a.m. — First responder call on the 700 block of Silver Drive for a person hurt in a fall. Tuesday, April 1 10:59 a.m. First responder call on the 600 block of Malin Court for a person hurt in a fall. Wednesday, April 2 10:29 a.m. — First responder court on the 1000 block of Linden Drive for a person hurt in a fall. Thursday, April 3 10:16 a.m. — First responder call on the 700 block of McHugh Road for a person hurt in a fall.
