Ronald ‘Ron’ H. Glaunert

LA CROSSE -- Ronald “Ron” H. Glaunert, 76, of La Crosse died of cancer on Monday, April 14, 2008, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born May 2, 1931, in Minneapolis to Henry and Mabel (Lhotka) Glaunert. Ron attended Winona Senior High School, Winona, Minn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On June 16, 1956, he married Sharon H. Boyce at Central Methodist Church in Winona. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was employed as a lab technician at Trane Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1994.

Ron and Sharon have been longtime menbers of Wesley United Methodist Church, where Ron was a lay leader for 25 years and a mentor for confirmation youths for 14 years. As a certified lay speaker, he served at numerous local churches. He taught Sunday school, youth leaders for a number of years and also served on a variety of church committees. Ron was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, serving on both the local and state level. He most recently held the position of State District Deputy Grand Master and Grand Lecturer. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Frontier Badger No. 45, Grand Lodge of Wisconsin, and the Shrine International Fraternity. Ron volunteered for 10 years as the blood site coordinator for the Scenic Bluff Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ron loved life and treasured his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, culinary arts and watching sports, especially those involving his family.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Sharon; and their children, son, Kevin (Neva) Glaunert of Onalaska, Wis., and their children, Renee and John; son, Craig (Kelly) Glaunert of Oshkosh, Wis., and their children, Crystal, Jesse, Samantha, Nicolette, and their granddaughter, Anabella; son, Curtis (Beth) Glaunert of Sun Prairie, Wis., and their son, Brendt; son, Kendall (Stacey) Glaunert of Holmen, Wis., and their children, Zachary and Nicholas; sister, Collette Ladner of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; brother, Keith (Diana) Glaunert of New Berlin, Wis. and sister-in-law, Sandra (Roger) Erickson of Rochester, Minn. and also by nine nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Lamar Ladner.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Eighth and King streets, La Crosse. The Rev. Don Iliff will officiate. Military honors will follow the service at the church by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 of La Crosse and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Burial will be in Fountain City Cemetery, Fountain City, Wis. Friends may call at Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the services.

Henry P. Walters

ONALASKA — Funeral services for Henry P. Walters will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in La Crosse. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to services Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
