Local Christian rock band Killians Fault will compete this weekend in the finals of the 2008 UW-Eau Claire Battle of the Bands.

The competition started with 50 bands, which were narrowed down to 25 via voting on the Web site (www.uwecbattle.com). Those 25 performed last weekend, and Killians Fault emerged as one of the top six bands, which will compete Saturday in the finals on Water Street on the UW-EC campus.

The winner of Saturday's battle of the bands gets a mainstage gig at this year's Summerfest in Milwaukee, courtesy of the Leinkugel Brewing Co.

Music runs from about noon to 6 p.m., with Killians Fault scheduled to take the stage from 2:15 to 3 p.m.

Killians Fault, which also will play May 8 at the Warehouse in La Crosse, includes guitarist/singer Danny Koeller and drummer Matt Kennedy of Onalaska and guitarist/singer Sam Piper and bassist Tim Quast of West Salem.

People who want to keep up with the band can check out the Killians Fault MySpace page at www.myspace.com/killiansfault.
