OHS students make FBLA nationals

Thirty students from Onalaska High School competed at the state conference of the Future Business Leaders of America. The conference was held in La Crosse in April. Three of the students placed in the top three in their events, qualifying them to go to the National FBLA Leadership Conference in Atlanta June 26-29.

Three Onalaska High School FBLA students finished in the top three in their events at the state competition held in La Crosse in early April, qualifying them for the National FBLA Leadership Conference in Atlanta from June 26-29.

The Onalaska chapter recorded a school-record amount of events qualified.

The three students who qualified are:

  • Sarah Christianson, who placed second in Business Communication.

  • Nadia Elfessi, who placed second in Introduction to Business Communication.

  • Austin Zeng, who placed third in Business Math.

    Besides the three national qualifiers, seven other Onalaska students earned top 10 finishes at the state conference. Brooke Boebel placed fourth in Accounting 1, Kaitlin Bruden placed sixth in Help Desk, Alecia Jorde, Natalie Jorde, and Morgan Ludington placed eighth in Business Ethics, Justin Roach placed ninth in Business Math and Luke Thornton placed ninth in Personal Finance.

    In total, another school-record-30 students from Onalaska competed at the state conference. Onalaska High School business education teacher Travis Johnson is the advisor of FBLA.
