" Jerry Ford. After Nixon resigned, he proclaimed "Our long national nightmare is over'. No such proclamation from the fill in Chief. All we got was 'We are moving on". Which means that any mistakes made ON BOTH SIDES goes unacknowledged. This city needs new blood desperately. And the city leaders are remiss in not filling this position immediately. For those that believe Chief Williams did such a bad job, the question becomes--Who could possibly do worse? You have painted him in such a bad light that Pee Wee Herman would be our best bet. The only answer to those people would be to let the officers pick their own boss--OY!! The citizens deserve a new Chief. And swiftly! "
The bad apples should have been removed. New appletree with new apples. wrote on May 18, 2008 4:55 PM:
" Why haven't they been punished or fired. Cheif Hauser is a poor choice. Hes like Randy Williams but the blame should go to the police and fire commission. The Chief has to listen to the police and fire commission.
They need a cheif within the police force a cop that isn't corrupt. A retired cop. A cop that knows the people of its city that gets along with people.Thats how a cheif should be chosen.
Cops break more laws then people do. Some cops take the badge to their head. Some eat to many doughnuts.
I think of one person thats Dennis Furlong. "

" The OPD never officially acknowledged the less than honorable actions of members of it's force. The citizens were never reassured that these actions would never occur again. Which assures that they will happen again. A statement that we are all moving on only means that the cops are. Great that the OPD sings kumbya again, but you forgot about us, the reason for the force. There was a loss of trust there that a pro would have taken steps to mitigate. Thanks for listening. "

" Pulled up his claim stakes, packed his "A" bag, saddled his horse, exclaimed adios. And never apologized for the action of the couple bad apples. Missed a good opportunity too. Sure things are quiet, that's the little blue wall. They know they need to make it work now after all the big talk. But where is the force? Where is our money going? Seen the annual report online lately? Nope, we need a Chief, and we need one bad before it goes into one of those us and them situations. Second string was way to close to this and the city needs to move on this. Chief by default? I don't think so. "

" How can you consider Chief Hauser as second string as he has pulled the department together in the termoil caused by Randy Williams.I think Chief Hauser is doing a terrific job. To bad Chief Dlouhy would not have been alive today he would have been very proud to have one of his employees as acting chief. Chief Dlouhy was a very caring person, and would listen to the public and his officer. Chief Hauser keep up the good work! "

" Makes me wish they had been that careful picking the rank and file. Never forget that out of an exemplary force, two had their actions characterized as 'less than honorable". Haven't been in the news? That could say a lot. Either way, the city is without a Chief. Now, we either need one or we don't. "

" Either you got an early start on the Sunday Happy hour or you just make no sense. Second string?? The PD has not made the news since the little guy left on "Medical leave". Maybe the City does not want to rush and make the same mistake they made with Williams. Thank you City Fathers "

" This has taken way too long. The taxpayers are cheated. We have the second string at bat for how long? And the second string that quit from pride at that! Sorry City Fathers(with apologies to mothers everywhere), you aren't picking the next military leader in Iraq, get on with it!! "
