Jordan Tredinnick, who will be a senior at Onalaska High School this fall, has earned a spot on Team Wisconsin, perhaps the premier pre-and-post high school hockey team in the state.
Team Wisconsin is sponsored by the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association. The team is designed for the top 18-and-under players in the state, and its goal is to give players junior-level game development, with maximum exposure to NHL, college and Juniors scouts.
Nate Trannel, who will be a junior at OHS this fall, made it to the final tryout for Team Wisconsin. Juniors rarely make the team. Onalaska senior-to-be Jordan Guth also tried out for the club.
Those three players, along with Brice Wizner and Mason Sedlacek, also played in the Wisconsin-Madison Elite Hockey Camp earlier this month. Tredinnick finished with four goals and five assists in the camp, while Trannel had three goals and six assists.
Guth had two goals and five assists, while Wizner had two goals and two assists. Sedlacek tallied one assist. Among the coaches at the camp was Houston Aeros coach Luke Strand.
The Aeros are the top affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. Strand also was the first college head coach for Onalaska and Team Wisconsin alumnus Steve Dus.
The quintet could be looking at several teammates playing in the Juniors ranks this fall. El Paso now looks to be the favorite for the services of defenseman Mike Bottcher and Sparta forward Trevor Erickson, according to Onalaska head coach Tim Ebner. Both players have one remaining tryout with Albert Lea of the North American Hockey League, Ebner said. Both players were drafted by Quad Cities of the United States Hockey League, but likely will not play there, Ebner said.
Mitch Thompson continues to look for Tier 3 Juniors playing opportunities, Ebner said. That could include teams in the North American Hockey League, Ebner said.
Jordan Lounsbrough and Tyler Harreld are receiving interest from the Juniors team in Danville, Ill., Ebner said, with the club conducting a tryout camp in August. Danville is coached by Chris Sislow, a previous Team Wisconsin coach.
