Onalaska's American Legion baseball team saw its 14-game winning streak snapped Sunday, but still entered its Class AA regional at Holmen's Viking Field with wins in 15 of its last 16 regular-season games after a win in game two of a doubleheader split with the La Crosse Aquasox at Copeland Park Sunday.

Nick Dziedzic drove in four runs in Onalaska's 13-2, five-inning win in Sunday's nightcap. Jordan Tredinnick had two hits and five total bases on a double and triple, while Brandon Rude had two hits. Jerry Rank and Kyle Stewart added doubles.

Alex Berg earned the win, striking out three over the first three innings. Rank earned a pitched-effectively save, pitching the final two innings.

The Legion scored twice in the top of the seventh in the opener to forge a 7-7 tie, but the Aquasox scored the game-winning run on a soft single to right field. Onalaska had held an earlier 5-3 lead, before La Crosse scored three times in the bottom of the fifth, including a Tony Mueller home run to left on a pitch at his eyes on which Rude was trying to pitching around the Winona State recruit.

Zak Knutson finished a home run short of the cycle and drove in three runs, while Berg included a double in his three-hit game. Stewart added two hits, while Rank lined a double.

Rank pitched the seventh and took the loss. Jordan Guth pitched the first four innings for the Legion.

Despite early control issues for Stewart, Onalaska dominated in a 10-4 win at Black River Falls Friday. Included in the control trouble was a two-run wild pitch. Rank was among the Legion's leading hitters with a double, with Rank also pitching the seventh.

Onalaska began the regional by playing Reedsburg Thursday (after the Community Life deadline). The winner of that game plays the winner of yesterday's Holmen - Richland Center contest today at 5 p.m., with the loser of the game in the double-elimination format playing the loser of yesterday's Sauk Prairie - Baraboo game today at noon.

Stewart is one of two Wisconsin American Baseball state all-star game selections in the regional, with the other Reedsburg's Mike Lennon. For more information on the tournament, go to www.leaguelineup.com/holmenlegion. Monday's scheduled doubleheader at Prairie du Chien was cancelled.
