The Bi-State Bulldogs 16-and-under baseball team, Luther High School's Junior Legion team, finished their season with a come-from-behind 11-8 win at Bangor Monday.
Bi-State trailed 7-2 and 8-4 before beginning the comeback. Cody Krueger had the biggest blow in a five-run sixth that produced the final margin with an RBI double.
Clint Gilman earned the win in relief of Caleb Schultz and Krueger. Gilman allowed no runs and one hit with three strikeouts in pitching the fourth and fifth innings. Travis Hamilton earned a save by pitching a scoreless sixth and seventh, including a season-ending 1-4-3 double play through Jared Fread to first baseman Nick Donley.
Schultz gave the Bulldogs the initial lead with a two-run single in the first. Joey Leibl helped the comeback cause by driving in two runs in the fourth to close Bi-State's deficit to 7-4. Fread also contributed two RBIs toward the comeback, with an RBI ground out in the third cutting the deficit to 8-5 and an RBI double in the fifth getting the Bulldogs within 8-6.
Dave Buchner began the sixth-inning rally with a one-out single, with Matt Schneider reaching on an error and scoring after Krueger's double. Josh Pralle and Donley walked and scored following Krueger's double. Hamilton doubled and scored to lead off the second.
Bi-State finished its season 7-10. The Bulldogs were 4-2 in July.
