Onalaska had 14 hits in the game, including a three-run home run in the first inning by designated hitter Jerry Rank and a three-RBI double in the seven-run fifth by catcher Andy Mills.
Mills was named the tournament MVP.
Jordan Guth scattered six hits, struck out four batters and walked one in a complete-game victory.
“It was definitely one of the best games I’ve ever pitched,” Guth said. “All my stuff was working, my curveball, my fastball and my changeup. It was the best all three of my pitches have been in quite a while.”
It was the third time over the five-day tournament that Onalaska beat Kaukauna. The other two wins were much closer — 10-9 on Friday and 4-3 on Monday.
Onalaska also won state titles in 1991 and 2004. Mills was a player on the 2004 team, and Zeb Allert, this year’s head coach, was an assistant coach in 2004.
Most of the players on the team also play for Onalaska High School.
